He’s so callous he’d willingly use an amnesiac child as bait to lure a starving monster out from hiding just for some money. I think what makes Crasher so terrifying is that he’s essentially so unpredictable. I will say I actually felt kind of scared of Crasher, which I’d say is a sign of very good character writing considering that I’m not actively scared of that many fictional characters. They all just felt so alive and vibrant and I just love experiencing that in a story. Overall I felt really sucked into the world you have constructed, especially when it came to Ambersap Town, the Star-Reach Guild, and the marsh mystery dungeon. That’s a variation of mystery dungeon world building I haven’t seen yet and I think it helps your PMD world really stick out. I especially liked that they had to close their eyes to get to the next floor. Another detail I liked was how the mystery dungeons were explained. I could easily imagine the inside and outside of the ancient tree, as well as the tree rings that showed its age. Another thing I really adored about the first seven chapters were all the various environmental details in the story, such as the absolutely beautiful descriptions of the Star-Reach Guild’s tree. Their sibling bond is definitely a highlight of the story. It really feels like they balance each other out. I really admire Ronan’s enthusiasm about forming a team, and I’m glad Cinder is there to help keep him grounded a bit and remind him of the task at hand.

I think they have a really wholesome and sweet sibling dynamic. Next, I must say I really love Ronan and Cinder. That or I’m looking too deeply into things. It was quite curious that she ended up on a frozen lake of all places, but I have a feeling it might be relevant to how she lost her memories. When it comes to the first few chapters I have to say they did a good job of introducing me to the world of Drifting Away and the characters, especially Nona. I read the first seven chapters, and I have to say they were spectacular! Usually I only review one chapter at a time, but since they were posted all together I’ll just be reviewing all the chapters available at the time of this review.
